Santa could be tormenting your children

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, just my teenager's mouth. Well...just kidding. But he had a conversation on Christmas Eve with his friend that I thought was funny. Him, not so much.  Santa may be tormenting your kids and you don't even know it.

Friend: Did you ever just get creeped out by Santa as a little kid? Didn't you find it creepy that he's always watching to see when your asleep or awake?

Son: Now that you mention it, he is creepy. He's a jolly fat man in a red suit that knows everything about you. Naughty, nice, awake, asleep. He's basically a creepy old man that stalks little children. And think about it, he breaks in your house, steals your cookies, and drinks all your milk. All without your consent.  I'm pretty sure there is some sort of Constitutional ground being crossed.

He basically promotes discrimination, too. He gives gifts to all the good kids and coal to all the bad kids. Christmas really isn't that nice of a holiday.

I was going to end it there but thought I'd put my son's response to my telling him what I posted.  Picture Shia Lebeouf and you get a very good idea for how he speaks.

Me: I posted what you and your friend were discussing on my blog for Christmas. Do you want to read it?

Him: (Dead serious) No, not really mom. I'm a little scared to be honest.

Me: Why are you scared?

Him: (Very serious and matter of factly and slightly ignoring me)  Maybe you  painted me in a bad light. A Santa hater. Someone anti-holiday, against joy, sans Christmas, someone with Claus-ter-phobia,

Me: ?

The Liebster Award

I was nominated for the Liebster Award. This is the 3rd and 4th time, and I'm thankful to all of you sweet ladies for the nomination, but honestly I'm not sure I qualify because I have over 200 followers, you just can't see them all cause they are following by email.

I'm really not sure then if it would be Ok to participate, or worse, rude for not participating. So just in case, here goes........

I guess you are suppose to offer some random facts about yourself or blog and Karina from Mom In The USA, as well as Mariely from Sensational Creations,  nominated me but Karina only gave us 5 to do, which is easier, so here goes........

  1. I'm a walking contradiction. While I'm never the person to just tell someone what they want to hear, I usually have atleast 2 different ways of looking at things, aka opinions, so I probably come off a little unsure or worse, crazy.
     2.  If I blog about high end items, it's because of how well made they tend to be and/or the
beautiful and artistic designs and details. Never because it's a status symbol. There are blogs
for that but this is not one of them.

     3.  I live in a haunted house. No joke.

     4.  My husband gets up at least 3 or 4 times a night every night to take me to pee because we live
          in a haunted house.

     5.  I pee, a lot.

     6.  I have lived in several haunted homes in my life, which leads me to ask the question if it's a
weird coincidence, or if it's following me to each home. (We ruled crazy out since it's been
witnessed at times by others.) (This is the perfect time where the Christian bloggy ladies that
follow my blog are deciding to pray for me.) hint....hint...

     7.  I still check to see if my children are breathing every night even though one is a teenager (can
          you say nutso?)

     8. I have the energy and stamina of a rock, yet my mind is ready to go, go, go. For that reason
you may see me out and about at a store but napping. Yes, that's probably me over there
sleeping under that rock.   (And again the Christian ladies said let's pray for this poor, tired, sad,
excuse of a woman. No, really, please do.)

To sum it all up ladies, I guess I'm an extremely nervous mother, with a split personality and possibly some odd kidney disorder, who somewhat resembles Patrick Star from Sponge Bob.

Ok, that was 8 random facts. And somehow they selfishly turned into a prayer list for me!

Now Karina's questions for me:

What's the cheesiest thing that makes you laugh?
So many things give me the giggles! But I guess if it has to be cheesy, I would say George Clooney
on 'Oh Brother Where Art Thou'...when he's on stage and does that hilariously goofy dance to blue grass music.

If you were coming to my house for Sunday dinner, what would you like to see on the menu?
Anything with a savory sauce.

What is your favorite beauty product?
A really good CE ferulic acid serum.

Are you a saver or spender.
See this goes back to where I said, I'm a person of 2 opinions. I thoroughly believe in spending and saving.

Favorite Bible verse.....Any Bible verse that shows the heart of God. So, I love the book of Hosea. There are several others. I also love the verses about Grace. Yet, I still do not understand how we are saved by Grace and nothing else keeps us saved but grace. Again, the Christian bloggy ladies said let's pray for this confused woman, before she croaks one day unsaved.
Who knew that question was going to open up some deep seeded issues? On we go...........

What are you looking forward to this holiday season?
It's the atmosphere of Christmas. The lights, the decor, the music, how everyone seems so much happier. It's magical and I loooove it!

What is/are your New Years resolution(s)?
To follow through with what I should have done last year! Ha! Let's learn to stay focused and quit being so ADD! Also, I would very much like to bring my blog design up a few notches, and buy some lenses and photo courses to make my blog pics really clear.

What is the last thing you bought made in the USA?
It's my Krylon Gold Leafing Paint Pen! This thing is spectacular! Anyone that reads my blog long enough
will realize I have a love affair with this pen! If I ever opened a treasure box it should be filled with these gorgeous paint pens.

Age gracefully or refuse to age?
Definitely refuse to age! Creams, serums, whatever is safe enough and affordable. Fight it baby!

What kind of music do you listen to?
Oh, I love so many genres. My favorite types would be 80's especially British 80's, early 90's, lots of Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James, Frank Sinatra, things like that. My now music is stuff like The Black Keys, anything with Jack White behind it, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Of Monsters and Men, and some other artists.

Do you have a favorite charity? If so, what is it?
Yes, I do. It's Gospel for Asia. They give the gospel of Jesus Christ to people who have no chance in hearing  it. Also, they allow you to purchase things for the poor via an itemized list on their site. You can literally donate money and choose what it's allocated for. For example you can choose, blankets, chickens, goats, and so many other things that help make them self sufficient.  *Odd that I don't entirely understand the gospel myself, but I want to help others by giving it to them.. I guess it's better they do, even if I don't.*

                                                                  Mariely's questions for me:

1) How long have you been blogging?
A little over a year, if you count when I started, but I stopped for several months in that year. So collectively, about 9 months.
2) How did you choose the name for your blog?
It just popped in my head, which I should have checked first because there was a website with the same name, I later found out. Design Fluff is about the aesthetically pleasing parts of design, another words the fun stuff, well atleast to me.  It's not about the placement of doors, windows and such in the overall design plan of a home, that's a whole other cookie.
3) From where do you blog most of the time? Home?
Yes.
4) What's your favorite dessert?
I don't think I have one. I'm an equal opportunist when it comes to a good dessert. I guess if I had to choose one, maybe a really delicious baked from scratch chewy cookie.
5) Juice or Soda?
Well, they are both bad for you, so I'll go for a soda, you can get a healthier version like the ones at the health food store that are made with stevia and no artificial colors. They are called Zevia sodas if anyone is interested.
6) Summer or Winter?
Definitely Summer!
7) What's your favorite memory as a child?
Off hand, I can't think of one. Maybe boating with my family.
 8) Do you have any pets?
Yes, I have a dog. I'm pretty sure they based a book on him "Walter the Farting Dog."
9) I love candy! Is there any candy you don't like?
Not a fan of Sweet Tarts unless they are the chewy kind.
10) What's your favorite movie?
I really don't have a favorite movie. I love lots of movies.
11) Movies or TV series?
I think I prefer TV series lately. There are so many exciting ones to watch!

OK, enough about me, here are my nominees and the rules:

My nominees are:

Kelly @ Blart
                                                     Teryn @ Vintage Romance
                                                      Jane @ Urbane Jane
                                                      Monica @ Decorating Insanity

There were a few more blogs I wanted to nominate and I couldn't find them right away. So please don't feel left out! You weren't less important to me at all, just harder to find, as I am following a lot of blogs! BTW, some of you I wanted to nominate but you had too many followers. They should come up with a new award for medium sized blogs!

Link back to the blog that nominated you. Offer 11 random facts about yourself.  OK, atleast 5. Answer the questions I set forth for you, pretty please. The Nominees are to choose 11 other blogs that they love or believe to be up and coming but have under 200 followers. I'll make it easy for you and say to choose atleast 5.

My questions for you ladies are.....

1) Do you have goals/ambitions to make a living blogging?
2) What, or rather, who is your biggest blog crush and why?
3) What plans do you have, if any, to improve the look and/or quality of your blog content for the New Year?
4) Have you ever lived in a haunted house? If so, give us some details.
5) If you were in the market for a home, and it was a gorgeous old home with a rumour for being haunted, would you buy it? Why or why not?
6) Do you feel comfortable offering personal details on your blog?(ie, family photos, where you live, etc..) Why or why not?
7) Are you currently reading any blogging tip books or planning on buying any? Which ones?
8) Name all of your favorite tv shows that you are currently watching or catching up on.
I'm going to go ahead and tell you mine....The Walking Dead, Downtown Abby, Once Upon a Time, Revenge, Pretty Little Liars, Dr. Who, Eureka, Psych, 24 (I know it's older but I'm catching up), Fringe (haven't seen the last season).
9) Flats or heels?
10) What is your favorite design trend this year? Gold, black and white stripes, leopard print, something else?
11) Favorite skincare gadgets/treatments and favorite makeup?

I had fun asking these questions and truly am curious as to how you answer. So, I'll be reading all of your answers.

Christmas Design Spotlight: Henri Bendel

I'm picturing bringing a little Christmas cheer to my work area with the snow globe and mug. OK, the mug isn't Christmas-y but it's perfect for some hot cocoa. So it fits.:D  I was sole-d by the soles of those loafers! And you could diy your own with some sharpy paint pen badness! The nutcracker fashionista says it all!

Hacked Again!

I didn't want to have to post this because it's embarrassing, but it may be necessary due to the fact that the last time something close to this happened to me, a hacker sent out porn to everyone on my email list from my email! That was about 10 years ago.

This is my blog and I can't take that chance. First, let me say if you received or do receive porno email from me in the next few days. ITS NOT FROM ME!

Yesterday, I went to log on my computer only to find the password was changed. When I finally got back in to my computer, little weird things would happen. Like I would be working on a post or comment and my words would get erased, or  other websites would pop up that I didn't click on. It was really annoying to say the least. My mouse was acting wonky and the cursor would just go all over the place.

Let's just say websites that you wouldn't want to pop up started popping up on my computer and as hard as I tried to click off of them it didn't go off right away. I ended up downloading a windows cleaner to get the funky, nasty, images off my computer and running AVG. AVG did find a trojan, though I can't see how since I mainly only visit blogs and online stores. I'm pretty careful what I let my computer get used for.

I'm not sure exactly what happened but this morning I awoke to a message saying I was signed out of my designfluff account on Yahoo for "routine maintenance" and I needed to sign back in.

I've never in all my years been signed out of yahoo for "routine maintenance" and after what I went through yesterday I felt suspicious about signing back in. So I clicked off the message and my regular email was right underneath of that message, and it was never signed out of!  So, suffice to say it looks like someone was phishing for my password!

I wrote all that to say, if you received something through email inappropriate. It's not from DesignFluff as I was hacked. And just be careful about phishing because that is what  appears to have happened this morning. If it seems odd, check it out first.

This was originally scheduled for Friday, but I thought with everyone so busy, and these being diy gifts, you are going to need as much advanced time as you can get to pick up your materials.

I was hoping to have my new pillow made to share here in the DIY list but I have been so busy! There is not enough time in the day. Look forward to a few new pillow tutorials. I'm not going to pinpoint a date as I've learned not to do that anymore!

The key to making all of these a successful DIY gift is to customize them to the recepients. Choosing the right color for their decor, fabric, etc...and of course pouring all of your time, energy, and love into making these look just as wonderful as they do in the pictures!

1) Paint Dipped Flower Vases
2) Diy Deer Head
3) BHG Pretty Pouf
4) Riding Stick Horses
5) Gold Leafed Paper Mache Bowls
6) Handmade Studded Jewelry
7) DIY Wood Cutting Boards
8) Map Coasters
9) $3 Dollar Ikea Floor Mat to Fabulous Floor Pouf
10) Tori Spelling Chalkboard Mug   (She has a decor/diy blog? I know!)
11) Candy Cane Soap
12) Farmhouse Trestle Desk (Ok, so someone is going to have to be really good to get this!)

Black, White, Gold, Cafe, and Silver Bedroom Design Board

This is a room that I started out designing of a boutique hotel room, and ended up being something I want for my own bedroom. I love the juxtaposition of the modern black and white stripe pillow against the gold curtains and how the bed's headboard serves as the perfect backdrop to host the pillow and let it pop. The black and white pillows, beds, and lucite dresser help make this room fun and keep it from being too heavy on the traditional side. The metallic elements, lucite, and lamb skin rug bring the glam factor. This room is the perfect mix of modern and traditional.

Sorry to those that are reading this post twice. I seem to be having some tech difficulties with Blogger. Somehow this post was originally posted on Nov. 28 and was reposted today.
