About

Designing your space should be a fun process. This space should be about you!  What do you like, what do you want your space to feel like? Some of my favorite rooms are not from shelter magazines but from movie sets. Many times I feel like we really get to know a character by the story their space tells and movie set designers can do such a beautiful job capturing that without looking like everyone else out there.

Sometimes people forget that your space should be a reflection of what you like, not a "what not to do list"  by every designer on earth, or jumping on the blogger's trend wagon, though it can be if that is what you like!  Only you live in your space, so imagine it for what you want it to be, consider your budget and then have fun!  Remember that designing a room is a lifetime work it doesn't have to be done in a day. Our budgets and tastes grow as we grow and sometimes life happens. Work with what you have not against it.

Hiring a designer can help you bring a fresh pair of eyes to the space and perhaps help with scale, seating arrangements, color selection, and other design dilemmas you may have.

"Have you ever considered how much pure stuff and nonsense surrounds this subject of interior decoration? Probably not. Almost everyone believes that there is something deep and mysterious about it or that you have to know all sorts of complicated details about periods before you can lift a finger. Well, you don't. Decorating is just sheer fun: a delight in color, an awareness of balance, a feeling for lighting, a sense of style, a zest for life and an amused enjoyment of the smart accessories of the moment." - Dorothy Draper, Decorating is Fun!

  1. I LOVE "I Love Lucy". Those pictures are so fantastic! My sister and I do the Vita-Meata-Vegamin schtick all the time. Hilarious.
